Access Programme
Our most comprehensive pathway. A year-long programme combining workshops, one-to-one mentoring and contact with Oxbridge students and alumni, with paid and funded places.
The Access Programme is the most comprehensive Shajara pathway. Rather than a one-off workshop or a last-minute push before applications, students take part in a sustained programme over a full year, building the knowledge, skills and confidence to make a strong application to a leading university.
It is particularly aimed at students who may not otherwise have access to Oxbridge and leading-university guidance, such as students who would be the first in their family to go to university.
Funded places
We don’t want cost to hold back able students. Shajara offers funded (bursary) places for students who meet widening-participation criteria, such as being a first-generation university applicant or being eligible for free school meals. The number of funded places depends on the funding available each year. If you apply for a funded place, we may ask for supporting evidence.
How to apply
- Apply using our enquiry form, choosing the Access Programme.
- Eligibility review. We look at your application and, if relevant, your request for a funded place.
- Initial conversation. A free 15 to 30 minute call with the student and a parent or guardian.
- Confirming a place. We confirm a paid or funded place, then send a short onboarding form.
Residentials
Our long-term goal is for Year 12 students to spend time in a university setting, ideally in Oxford or Cambridge. Residential opportunities are being developed with partners, and we will share details with participants as they are confirmed.
